The first prototype of IDbox was built during a London Blockchain Week Hackathon in January 2017. It was based on the needs of Papua New Guinea, a Pacific country with low internet access, limited electricity and limited smart phone penetration. The IDbox project built by Julien Bouteloup - which was originally named PapuanyBox - won the competition and is now being developed for use in case trials in Papua New Guinea and elsewhere. It has been a fantastic journey with amazing partners and institutions focused on the developing countries and the poor. If you really want to reach the last mile. IDBox provides the solution.
